Getting Started & Pricing

How much does Direct Dine cost?

Plans start at $50/month for Starter, $149/month for Essential, and $199/month for Pro Growth AI. There is no setup fee and no long-term contract — you pay a small flat monthly fee and keep 100% of your sales.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Direct Dine is month-to-month with no cancellation penalty. Start, scale, or cancel whenever you need to.

How long does it take to launch?

Most restaurants go live within a few days. We set up your branded ordering app, import your menu, and configure your kitchen tablet and printer so you can start taking orders quickly.

Do I need special equipment?

Your customers only need their phones. For the kitchen you use a tablet and a receipt/kitchen printer to receive and print tickets. The tablet and printer are not included in the subscription.

Can I see it before committing?

Online Ordering & Commissions

How much commission does Direct Dine charge?

Direct Dine charges 0% commission on orders processed through the platform. Unlike third-party delivery apps that take 15–30% of every order, you keep 100% of each sale.

How is this different from delivery marketplaces?

Delivery apps take a large commission and own your customer relationship. With Direct Dine you pay a flat monthly fee, keep your margins, and own your guest data so you can market to them directly.

Does it handle takeaway, delivery and pickup?

Yes. Takeaway, delivery, pickup, and in-house QR dine-in all run off one live menu, so orders from every channel flow straight to your kitchen with no manual re-entry.

Do customers have to install an app?

No. Your storefront is an installable web app (PWA) that opens instantly in the browser. Guests can add it to their home screen, but there is no app store download required.

Can I use my own domain and branding?

Yes. You can connect your own custom domain and the storefront is fully branded with your logo, colors and menu.

QR Dine-In & Tables

How does QR table ordering work?

Each table gets its own QR code. Guests scan it, browse the live menu in their language, order and pay from their phone, and the ticket fires to the kitchen attached to the correct table session.

Do guests need an app to order at the table?

No. The whole QR dine-in flow runs in the browser — no installation needed.

Can my staff manage dine-in orders?

Yes. There is a dedicated dine-in screen for both the business and the kitchen, so your team can run the floor and keep tickets organized by table.

Can I generate a QR code for every table?

Yes. You create tables in the dashboard and a unique QR code is generated for each one, which you can print and place on the table.

Payments & Checkout

Which payment methods are supported?

Direct Dine supports Stripe and PayPal for online payments (hosted checkout, or Stripe embedded checkout), as well as cash at the counter.

Is online payment secure?

Yes. Your payment credentials stay on the server and are never exposed to the browser. Card data is handled by the payment provider (Stripe or PayPal) on their secure infrastructure.

Can a customer pay part cash and part card?

Yes. Split tender lets you combine cash and card on a single order with clean reconciliation.

Can I add tips and a service fee?

Yes. Tipping and an optional service fee are configurable per channel, and both are reflected in the order totals.

How do refunds work?

You can issue full or partial refunds from the dashboard. Every refund is idempotent and kept on an audit trail, with guards against over-refunding.

Is there a cash drawer feature?

Yes. Cash drawer sessions let you open and close the drawer with opening and closing balance reconciliation.

AI Features

What can the AI assistant do?

The AI business analyst reads your data to suggest upsells and pairings, surface trends, forecast demand, and send low-stock alerts so you can grow average order value and avoid running out.

What is screenshot-to-order?

When a customer messages their order on Instagram, WhatsApp or SMS, you upload the screenshot. The vision AI reads it, matches each item to your menu, and creates a real POS order after a one-tap staff review.

Can the AI generate menu photos?

Yes. If you do not have your own photography, the AI can generate polished menu images for your items.

Which AI providers can I use?

You can run on Ollama (local), OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini, depending on your preference and setup.

Is my data kept private with AI?

AI features are tenant-scoped and isolated to your business, with token limits, rate limits and safety guards in place. You control which provider is used.

Notifications & Real-Time

How am I notified of new orders?

New orders appear instantly in a live order feed over secure WebSockets, across all your connected devices, the moment they are placed.

Do orders print automatically?

Yes. Once an order is paid, kitchen tickets print to the line automatically — no manual re-entry.

What happens if my connection is unstable?

Direct Dine automatically falls back to server-sent events and polling, so order updates keep flowing even on a shaky network.

Can customers see their order status?

Yes. Each order moves through clear states — pending, accepted, preparing, ready, completed — and customers are kept informed along the way.

Loyalty, Gift Cards & Customers

Do you offer a loyalty program?

Yes. A points-based loyalty program rewards repeat guests and helps bring them back more often.

Can I sell branded gift cards?

Yes. You can issue, redeem, adjust and void gift cards. Each card is protected by a code and PIN and tracked on an append-only ledger.

Do I own my customer data?

Yes — 100%. Your guest list stays in-house so you can market to your customers directly, instead of a marketplace owning the relationship.

Can customers keep store credit or a wallet?

Yes. Customers can hold store credit and balances they can spend in-app or in-store.

Languages, Locations & Staff

Does Direct Dine support multiple languages?

Yes. The storefront supports per-locale translations for menu items, categories and descriptions, and auto-detects each customer’s language while your back office stays in one language.

Can I run more than one location?

Yes. Run one venue or twenty from a single account, with a central dashboard and live activity across the whole business.

Can I control what staff can access?

Yes. Role-based permissions give owner, manager, kitchen and cashier exactly the access they need, plus shift management and activity logs.

Does it handle different currencies?

Yes. Pricing, receipts and totals are currency-aware and respect each currency’s decimal rules.

WhatsApp, Couriers & Delivery

Can guests book or order through WhatsApp?

Yes. A WhatsApp reservations bot built on the Meta WhatsApp Cloud API collects party size, date, time and contact, then drops the reservation into your dashboard.

Can I dispatch my own delivery drivers?

Yes. The courier module lets you assign drivers from a pool automatically or hand-pick a driver per order, with live delivery status for the customer and kitchen.

Can I track driver cash and commission?

Yes. You can track courier cash holdings and apply an optional commission based on the order subtotal.

Are my WhatsApp credentials secure?

Yes. Each venue’s WhatsApp credentials are encrypted and isolated to that business.

Data, Privacy & Security

Is my business data isolated from others?

Yes. Direct Dine is multi-tenant by design — every business is fully data-isolated, and queries are always scoped to your business only.

Are you GDPR and CCPA compliant?

Yes. There is a built-in data-rights layer with erasure, data export (DSAR), consent, do-not-sell and retention controls, while financial records are preserved as required.

Can I export my data?

Yes. You can run one-click CSV exports of orders, archived orders, customers, payments, products and transactions.

Who can access my dashboard?

Only the users you invite, each with role-based permissions. Access is always tied to your business and the role you assign.
